DSM protocols for Plurix
A network protocol basing on raw Ethernet was designed and developed for the cluster operating system Plurix. The network protocol is tailor-made for fast network memory access and consistency. Plurix is a lean Java OS basing on the well known concept of distributed shared memory (DSM). Distributed memory management simplifies higher OS layers but imposes special requirements for memory consistency and networking - especially for the design of network device drivers and network protocols.

In this Diploma thesis the existing Plurix Ethernet network protocol is enhanced with IP, UDP and a novel DSM-P network protocol designed for Plurix. The DSM-P protocol provides special functionality for the Distributed Shared Memory, especially for transactions.
