Ethernet-Bootloader
The distributed DSM Operating System Plurix is currently booted from floppy disc and serial line. The goal of this semester project is the development of a boot-ROM tool. This utility should provide fast starting of the Plurix OS from the ROM on an Ethernet card.

The defaults of this project are:

  • analyses of the behaviour of boot-ROMs
  • adaption of the current bootloader and store it in the ROM
  • development of a tool for binding the bootloader and the kernel to an image (the resulting format must be suitable for an EPROM burner)
  • facility to boot only from the EPROM and also via Ethernet
